COLUMBUS, Ohio - Katherine Mowat stayed in the hunt at the Ohio State Lady Buckeye Classic, finishing third individually, while the Cardinals rallied to shave nine strokes off the previous round to improve to a seventh-place finish in the 16-team field in Columbus. The tournament was played on the par-72 OSU Scarlet Course.
Ohio State fired a tournament-low 303 (+15) Sunday, enabling the Buckeyes to rally from a two-stroke deficit to earn team title. OSU's three-round total of 929 was six strokes better than second-place Michigan State, who held the lead entering the final round.
Kasey Gant of Michigan State garnered medalist honors after carding an 11-over 227. Gant entered the final round with a one-stroke lead over OSU's Mollie Fankhauser and held on as both fired a 76 in the third round.
Louisville's Cindy Pasechnik shot a 76 to improve to 21st with Lizzy Freemantle (247) finishing 41st and Erin Bell (256) and Jessica Kell (260) placing 66th and 77th, respectively.
This ends the Lady Cardinals regular season in its inaugural year of women's golf at U of L.
