Field Hockey Falls to Ohio

ATHENS, Ohio - The University of Louisville field hockey team fell to Mid-American Conference host Ohio University 1-0 on Saturday in the semi-finals of the MAC tournament. The game featured a matchup between the second-seeded Bobcats and the third-seeded Cardinals.
After playing a scoreless first half, Ohio's Jen Watt connected on an assist from Ali Johnstone with 11:09 remaining in the second half. The teams were evenly matched with Ohio having a 16-13 shot advantage. Louisville held a 11-9 penalty corner advantage. Louisville freshman goalie Christy Hershey recorded 12 saves in the games. Ohio's goalie Tara Elliot also collected 12 saves.
Sophomores Danielle Barr and Pip Sanders each earned MAC All-Tournament team honors.
U of L finishes the season with 14-8 record. The 14 wins marks the most wins in school history. The Cards' third place MAC finish is the best since joining the conference in 1994.
