CAMP INFORMATION
Building on the success of the past five years, the 6th annual Cardinal Summer Softball Camp provides top-notch instruction for fastpitch softball players. All three sessions (skills, pitching and catching) offer intense one-on-one instruction teaching participants specific skills and drills. Both camps will be held at the University of Louisville's Cardinal Park located directly off of Interstate 65. This state-of-the-art athletic complex allows all sessions to be held in one convenient location.
Resident campers will have the luxury of staying in air-conditioned university residence suites. These double occupancy rooms provide a fun and social atmosphere for the campers. Meals will be provided for both resident and commuter campers, however commuters will not receive breakfast.
Skills Camp
The Cardinal Softball Camp will allow each camper to receive individualized instruction on the proper techniques of hitting, fielding, base running, sliding and game strategies.
Pitching/Catching Camp
The pitching and catching camp is an intense day of learning fundamentals specific to each position. Catchers will learn blocking, throwing, stance and strategy. Pitchers will learn the fundamentals of pitching along with pitch development.
*Resident status available for participants registering in both skills and pitching /catching camp.
Clinic Staff
The 2004 Cardinal Softball Summer Camp will be directed by Coach Sandy Pearsall. She has posted over 400 wins in her 18 year career, and has been named Coach of the Year in three different conferences.
Assistant coaches Leslie Adams and Karen Marr will also be assisting Pearsall. Adams, a former Florida State catcher, has developed fundamentally solid defensive teams over the past 10 years. Marr has worked with elite pitchers in Australia for the last eight years and has helped guide seven junior teams to national championships.
Current Cardinal players, as well as outstanding collegiate and high school coaches will be on hand to serve as additional instructors. This diverse camp staff ensures a low 1 to 8 counselor/participant ratio, allowing for more individualized attention.
What to Bring
Participants should bring workout gear consisting of glove and tennis shoes. It would also be helpful to bring your own bat, helmet, and batting gloves. If you are a catcher, bring your catching gear.
