
Three Field Hockey Players Earn Regional All-American Honors

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Three University of Louisville field hockey players earned 2000 Astro Turf/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I Regional All-American honors.
Sophomore midfielder Pip Sanders (New South Wales, Australia) was named to the NFHCA West Region First Team. Sanders led the Cardinals in assists with 12 and scored six goals. She also earned First Team All Mid-American Conference honors and was named to the All-MAC Tournament team.
Senior defender Jen Felker (Ontario) and freshman goalkeeper Christy Hershey (Palmyra, Pa.) were named to the West Region Second Team. Felker, a team captain, was a mainstay in U of L's strong defense that recorded seven shutouts. She was also named to the All-MAC First Team.
Hershey led the MAC with an .828 save percentage, and was second in the conference with 6.5 shutouts. She also had the second lowest goals-against average at 1.37. As a freshman, Hershey earned All-MAC Second Team honors. She ranks third on Louisville's list of most shut outs in a single season.
U of L (14-8) finished the season with a school record-setting 14 wins. The Cardinals finished third in the MAC, advancing to the second round of the tournament for the first time since joining the conference in 1994.
