Women's Tennis Invitational Concludes

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's tennis invitational concluded on Sunday with East Tennessee State's Patty Vega claiming the "A" singles championship by defeating Sisconsin's April Gabler 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 in the finals. In "B" singles, Cincinnati's Jen Capuzzi won over Wisconsin's Katie Dougherty 7-5, 6-7(6), 6-2. Stephanie Matko of DePaul won over Cincinnati's Lisa Pruett 7-5, 6-2 in the finals of flight "C." In the "D" flight, DePaul's Karen Falduto defeated Ani Santi of Wyoming 6-2, 6-1.
In doubles action, Wisconsin's April Gabler and Vanessa Rauh outlasted Laura Taylor and Karen Falduto of DePaul 9-7 in the finals of the "A" draw, while Beth Abraham and Maggie Nafziger of Xavier won over East Tennessee State's Cara Prupas and Patty Vega in the "B" doubles championship.
For U of L, the doubles team of Melisa San Martin and Kelly Whitler advanced to the semi-final round of the "A" consolation before falling to eventual winners Jen Capuzzi and Khushi Italia of Cincinnati 8-1.
