Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's soccer team recorded its ninth shutout of the season tonight against IUPUI in Cardinal Park. The Cards defeated the Jaguars 3-0, improving to 10-6 on the season.
Louisville's Sean Murphy put the Cards on the board finding the back of the net off a corner kick from Stuart Langrish in the 26th minute of play.
Sophomore Courtenay Commander gave the Cards a cushion in the 33rd minute scoring an unassisted goal. The Cards controlled the first half only allowing the Jaguars one shot.
"Our goal at halftime was to record another shutout," said head coach Tony Colavecchia. "I thought that senior Adam Ottembrajt did a great job at filling in for Adrian Cann on defense tonight. That was a big player to replace."
Freshman Mason Barber scored the Cards final goal in the 67th minute. Louisville finished the game with 13 shots to IUPUI's two. Louisville keeper Jeremy Morales recorded one save to seal the shutout victory.
"I thought we had a very solid performance," Colavecchia said. "We played a great first half. I thought Stuart Langrish did a great job offensively."
The Cardinals will host DePaul on Saturday night, Oct. 21 in Cardinal Park at 7:30 p.m.
