Thomas Strause joined the University of Louisville Athletics Department as Associate Director of Academic Services in April 2020. He is responsible for overseeing academic support for the softball and men’s and women’s swimming & diving teams.
Thomas comes to UofL from Kennesaw State University, where he served as an Academic Counselor working with men’s & women’s basketball and women’s lacrosse. Prior to his time at Kennesaw State, he served as Interim Assistant Athletic Director of Academic Services at Coppin State University, overseeing academic support for 150+ student-athletes. He began his career in athletic academics as a graduate assistant within the Center for Academic & Tutorial Services (CATS) at the University of Kentucky. Â
A native of Sandwich, Illinois, Strause earned his Bachelor of Science in Political Science (2010) and Master of Science in Kinesiology and Health Promotion, Sport Leadership (2013), both from the University of Kentucky. Strause completed a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Student Affairs Leadership from the University of Georgia in 2018. Â
Thomas is an active member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A).
