
Cards Close the Winter 14th in the Learfield Standings

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville athletics department closed out the 2026 winter season in 14th place in the Learfield Directors' Cup Division I standings.
Louisville totaled 331 points across its winter sports and was one of seven ACC schools ranked in the top 15, the most of any conference in the country. The Big Ten Conference recorded four teams in the top 15, the second-most nationally.
UofL accrued points in women's and men's swimming and diving, women's and men's basketball and men's and women's track and field, with all six teams reaching their respective postseasons.
• Women's Swimming– 70.0 points
• Men's Swimming – 64.5 points
• Women's Basketball - 64.0 points
• Men's Track and Field – 53 points
• Men's Basketball – 50 points
• Women's Track and Field– 29 points
The women's and men's swimming and diving programs combined to score 134 points at its respective national championships. The women's finished in eight to score 70 points, while the men tallied 64.5 points to close the championships in 12th place.
Louisville women's basketball advanced to the Sweet 16 for the 13th time under head coach Jeff Walz, while the men's team won a first round game for the first time in nine seasons to tally 50 points.
The men's track and field team scored 53 points at the Indoor Championships and the women's team added 29 points.
The LEARFIELD Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in NCAA Championships.
