Jones Brings Scoring, Defense, and Versatility to the Cardinals roster
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Louisville Cardinals women's basketball program is thrilled to announce the addition of Skylar Jones, a standout guard/forward from the University of Arizona to their roster for the upcoming season. Jones brings a dynamic skill set that will make an immediate impact on the team's success.
"We are excited to welcome Skylar to the Louisville family," said head coach Jeff Walz. "She's a playmaker on both ends of the floor, and her energy, toughness, and skill set will be a great addition to our team."
During the 2024-25 season at Arizona, Jones averaged 10.3 points per game, including a career-high 30-point performance against No. 11 TCU, proving her ability to contribute as a high-level scorer. It was the most points scored in a game by an Arizona player since 2023. Her defensive prowess is equally impressive, averaging 1.6 steals per game and showcasing a relentless ability to disrupt opponents. She led the team with 52 steals on the season.
In her first season with the Wildcats, she averaged 7.2 points and 2.3 rebounds per game and was named Pac-12 All-Freshman Honorable Mention. During conference play, she led the Wildcats with a .511 field goal percentage. She tallied a season-high 24 points in the NCAA tournament against Syracuse.
Standing at 6-feet, Jones is a versatile athlete who can play multiple positions, bringing a combination of athleticism and explosiveness that will fit seamlessly into Louisville's fast-paced system. A Chicago native, she also embodies a gritty, hard-working mentality that aligns perfectly with the Cardinals' competitive culture. She played at Whitney Young High School and garnered 4A IBCA First Team All-State and AP All-State Second Team honors.
Jones' arrival adds another weapon to Louisville's lineup as they continue their pursuit of championship success.
