Ziegler played her first three collegiate seasons at St. Joseph’s
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville women's basketball program is thrilled to announce the signing of standout forward Laura Ziegler, a dynamic and versatile player who will join the Cardinals for the upcoming season.
Ziegler, a 6-foot-2 forward from Denmark, brings international experience, a strong work ethic, and an impressive resume to Louisville. She previously starred at Saint Joseph's University, where she earned All-Atlantic 10 honors and established herself as one of the premier forwards in the conference. Known for her toughness, high basketball IQ, and ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor.
"Laura is a tremendous addition to our program," said head coach Jeff Walz. "She brings a level of skill, maturity, and leadership that will elevate our team immediately. Her international experience and success at Saint Joseph's have prepared her well to compete at the highest level. We are excited to welcome her to Louisville and can't wait to see the impact she'll have on and off the court."
In her junior season, Ziegler averaged 17.5 points and 10.4 rebounds per game, while shooting 42.5% from the field. She was one of five finalists for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year in 2024-25. Ziegler became just the third player in program history to record 500+ points, 200+ rebounds and 100+ assists in a single season. She finished second in the Atlantic 10 in scoring and led the league in rebounding.
Ziegler has earned First Team All-Atlantic 10 honors in each of the last two seasons. Ziegler was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year in her freshman season with St. Joe's.
Ziegler also boasts significant experience with the Danish national team, competing in European championships and contributing as a key player in international tournaments. Her blend of size, athleticism, and floor vision make her a unique asset in the Cardinals' frontcourt.
"I'm incredibly excited and honored to join Louisville," Ziegler said. "The tradition, the fan base, and the opportunity to compete at the highest level in the ACC made this an easy decision. I'm ready to get to work with my new teammates and coaches and do everything I can to help this team win."
Ziegler's addition continues Louisville's strong momentum in assembling a championship-caliber roster, with the program consistently ranked among the nation's elite.
