October 08, 2025 | General
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — University of Louisville Vice-President/Director of Athletics Josh Heird John announced that two members of the athletics department have earned staff promotions.
Heidi Huebner, who will serve as Associate Athletic Director and Chief Financial Officer, will continue to oversee all financial and business operations for the department, including accounting, purchasing, reporting, travel, and budget strategy.
Zach Brooks, appointed Associate Athletic Director for Capital Projects and Administration, will lead all aspects of Athletics Capital Projects while providing sport oversight for Football, Men's Golf, and Women's Golf, as well as operational oversight of the University of Louisville Golf Club.
"These promotions reflect the exceptional leadership and professionalism that Heidi and Zach bring to our department every day," Heird said. "Both have made tremendous impacts in their time here — Heidi through her fiscal vision, operational accountability, and modernization of our business functions, and Zach through his ability to manage complex capital projects, steward key partnerships, and ensure our facilities and programs reflect the best of Louisville Athletics. Their promotions are well-deserved, and I'm confident they'll continue to elevate our department and the experience we deliver to our student-athletes, coaches, and fans."
Heidi Huebner – Associate Athletic Director / Chief Financial Officer
A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with experience across all Power 4 conferences, Huebner brings a unique blend of strategic and technical financial expertise to UofL. Since joining the department in 2024, she has restructured and modernized the Athletics Business Office, emphasizing improved reporting, forecasting, and alignment with campus financial systems.
Prior to her time at Louisville, Huebner served as Director of Budget & Financial Analysis at Oklahoma, where she managed a nearly $200 million budget and supported OU's transition to the SEC. Her background also includes auditing experience with Deloitte, where she worked across seven industries including professional sports, and prior financial roles in the athletic departments at Tennessee and Wisconsin.
A former women's basketball student-athlete and team captain at Viterbo, Huebner holds dual bachelor's degrees in Accounting and Sports Management, a Master of Accountancy from Tennessee, and is a licensed CPA. She currently oversees a team of eight staff members managing all of Louisville Athletics' finance, business operations, and external reporting.
Heidi and her fiancé Scott live in Louisville with their beloved golden retriever, Louie.
Zach Brooks – Associate Athletic Director for Capital Projects and Administration
A lifelong Cardinal and two-time UofL graduate, Brooks has served the UofL Athletics Department for more than 20 years in roles spanning nearly every corner of athletic administration — including marketing, development, capital projects, and sport administration.
In his new role, Brooks will continue to lead all capital project planning and execution for Louisville Athletics, ensuring facility enhancements are delivered on time, within budget, and with maximum benefit to student-athletes and fans. He will also maintain oversight of the University of Louisville Golf Club, Athletics IT, and Equipment Operations.
Since assuming oversight of the Golf Club, Brooks has led the facility to its most successful financial year in history through operational restructuring and fiscal accountability. Previously, as Executive Director for Development, he managed a $2.6 million donor portfolio, oversaw premium seating initiatives for the KFC Yum! Center and L&N Stadium expansion and played a pivotal role in advancing major capital fundraising campaigns.
As a sport administrator, Brooks has had oversight of Men's Soccer and Men's and Women's Golf, while also chairing the ACC Men's Golf Committee. In his new role he will also serve as the sport administrator for football. He has consistently supported coaches, student-athletes, and programs to ensure operational excellence and compliance, while serving as a trusted advisor on budget management, scheduling, and postseason competition.
Brooks earned dual bachelor's degrees in Sports Administration and Exercise Science from Louisville.
Brooks and his wife Brittany reside in Louisville with their son, Graham.
