Tajianna Roberts Named ACC Rookie of the Week

This is the third time this season she has earned the award
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville women's basketball freshman guard Tajianna Roberts was named ACC Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon. This is the third time she has earned the award. She is the first Louisville freshman to earn the honor three times in a single season since the Cardinals joined the ACC in 2014-15.
Roberts led the Cardinals in a 2-0 week that included a road win over Pitt and a home win over No. 13 Georgia Tech. She averaged 16.5 points per game over the two wins and led the team in scoring in each of the two games. She was the only ACC freshman this past week to lead the team in scoring in both games. Her 33 points over the two games were the most by an ACC freshman this past week.
In the win over Pitt, Roberts scored a team-high 17 points on 6-for-13 shooting and was 5-for-9 from behind the arc. The five made three-pointers were a career high for Roberts and tied for the most three pointers by a Louisville player in a game this season. Roberts also tied a season high with four rebounds and added two steals against the Panthers.
In the win over No. 13 Georgia Tech, Roberts had a team-best 16 points in the Cardinals first win against a ranked team this season. It was her team-best 14th double-digit scoring game this season, the most of any ACC freshman this season. It was her sixth-straight game scoring in double figures over the Cardinals current six-game winning streak.
Roberts and the Cardinals are back in action this week when they host Syracuse for a midweek matchup. The Cardinals and Orange will square off at the KFC Yum! Center Thursday at 7 p.m. ET and it will be streamed on the ACC Network Extra.
