GREENSBORO, N.C.– Two University of Louisville student-athletes were among the 51 student-athletes who have been selected as 2023 Weaver-James-Corrigan-Swofford Postgraduate Scholarship Award recipients, while two others were honored with the newly formed Atlantic Coast Conference Excellence Award, the league announced Monday.
Louisville's Julie Kouijzer, a member of the women's field hockey squad and Synclair Savage, who competes on the track and field were honored as post-graduate scholarship award winners, while football player Bryan Hudson and softball player Gabby Holloway were honorees for the excellence award.
This year's list includes three student-athletes who will also receive the Pat & Thacker Scholarship Award and 26 who plan to pursue professional careers in their chosen sports, who received the 2024 ACC Excellence Award (formerly called Honorary Scholarship nominees).
"Once again, this year's class of ACC Postgraduate Scholarship recipients represents all that is right in collegiate athletics," said ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips, Ph.D. "The student-athletes in the ACC continue to set the bar when it comes to academics and athletics, which is no more evident than with this group of incredible 51 student-athletes. The dedication and commitment to excellence both in competition and in the classroom is remarkable. The future is extremely bright for all of these incredible student-athletes, and we look forward to continuing to support them."
