
Michael Bush Named to 2023 ACC Honors Class

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Former University of Louisville Football great Michael Bush has been named to the 2023 ACC Honors Class, the league announced Tuesday. Â
One of the top running back in school history, Bush led Louisville to three-straight bowl appearances in 2003, 2004 and 2005 before suffering a season-ending injury in the first alf of the season opener against Kentucky. During his outstanding three-year career, Bush tallied 39 career touchdowns, the third-highest total in program history. During those three seasons, Bush rushed for 2,508 yards with the Cardinals, which ranks in the top-10 all-time in Louisville history scored and 41 total touchdowns, the fourth-most in program history.Â
In 2005, Bush set the single-season rushing touchdown record in Louisville history with 23Â and also holds the single-season total touchdown record with 24 scores during that same season. The former Male High standout secured the single-season record for points with 144, which led the entire NCAA that year.
In guiding the Cards to a spot in the Gator Bowl, Bush ran for 1,143 yards, despite missing two games, while recording six 100-yard rushing games .
A first team All-BIG EAST selection in 2005, Bush was drafted in the fourth round of the 2007 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders and went on to play six seasons in the NFL with the Raiders and Chicago Bears (2008-13). He concluded his pro career with 3,250 rushing yards and 1,010 receiving yards with 31 total touchdowns in his NFL career.
