
Kianna Smith Selected No. 1 in Women’s Korean Basketball League Draft

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Former University of Louisville women's basketball team guard Kianna Smith was selected with the No. 1 overall pick by the Yongin Samsung Life Blueminx in the Women's Korean Basketball League Draft on Friday.
Smith began her professional career this past summer with the Los Angeles Sparks as she was selected with the 16th overall pick in the 2022 WNBA Draft. She made her pro debut on July 4 against the Phoenix Mercury and played 11 games for the Sparks during the 2022 season.
Smith played two seasons with the Cardinals after transferring from Cal and was one of the main components of their Final Four run in 2021-22.
Smith was named a WBCA Coaches All America Team Regional Finalist last season en route to the program's fourth Final Four. She ranked second on the team with 12.0 points per game and nine times this season led the team in scoring. She ranked third in the ACC with a 36.7 3-point field goal percentage and ranked eighth with 1.8 made 3-pointers per game.
