
UofL Adds McKay as Director of NIL Services & Engagement

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville athletic department announced the hiring of Zack McKay, as the new Director of NIL Services and Engagement.
McKay, a UofL graduate, comes back to Louisville after serving as the Assistant Athletic Director, Marketing at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte the past four years. In addition to serving the past four years at UNC Charlotte, he spent five-plus years at Western Kentucky University as the Director of Athletics Marketing.

"We're thrilled to add Zack McKay to our Athletics Department team as our new Director of NIL Services & Engagement," said Associate Athletic Director Matt Banker. "Zack brings a wealth of experience across marketing, social media and student-athlete engagement that will support and serve our student-athletes in the NIL space. As a UofL alum, he is passionate about UofL athletics and understands what we're trying to accomplish in the ever-evolving college athletics landscape. Zack will be a leader for our NIL Department and he will hit the ground running."

"Being an alumni at UofL, I got my start in marketing here and have spent the past 16 years on the marketing side of athletics," said McKay. "In the last couple of years I've gotten more involved with the student-athletes and their social media, and their personal brands, so the opportunity to come back and solely focus on a role where I can be a support system for student-athletes is exciting to me."

As the Director of NIL Services & Engagement, McKay will manage the day-to-day outreach and engagement, internal operations, and educational programming and strategy driving the athletic department's Name/Image/Likeness (NIL) initiatives in support of current and former student-athletes and other NIL stakeholders in compliance with applicable university, state, federal and NCAA provisions.Â

He will support student-athletes in their NIL pursuits including with social media strategies, NIL activity disclosures, educational outreach opportunities, and connecting student-athletes to available resources to help student-athletes effectively navigate NIL.

McKay believes the NIL opportunities at the University of Louisville rank near the top in the nation and is excited to get started.

"UofL is one of the first universities to have a full-time staff member in an NIL seats, which shows the commitment to the student-athletes and their personal brands," added McKay. "Even more unique is the fact that we're in a huge college market, we're the biggest show in town, and this fan base is one of the best in the country."
