LOUISVILLE, Ky. — In an initiative aimed at broadening the horizons of University of Louisville student-athletes, representatives from 11 different sports and members from the Louisville Athletic Intern Program recently participated in a career exploration tour in Indianapolis.
Â
The group had the opportunity to engage with business professionals at Pacers Sports & Entertainment, including an exclusive tour of Gainbridge Fieldhouse, and adidas Indianapolis to gain insights into potential career paths beyond the field of play.
Â
This collaborative event – orchestrated by UofL's Student-Athlete Development, NIL and Compliance departments – aimed to expose students to a diverse range of career opportunities. The tour is part of a broader strategy to equip student-athletes with the knowledge and connections necessary for success in various fields post-graduation.
Â
Lilly Mould, a UofL Women's Tennis student-athlete, shared her enthusiasm about the experience, stating, "It was really awesome to see the Indiana Pacers Arena and understand what components went into their new renovations and how they prioritized for the Indianapolis community, fans, and players."
Â
Brion Stephens, a Track and Field athlete, echoed Mould's sentiments.
Â
"It was a great experience and opportunity. There was so much interesting information to take in, while also getting an understanding of how the behind-scenes actions affect our daily lives as athletes," Stephens said. "Lastly, a great factor of this experience was the fun, welcoming smiles, and energy given to us from all places and facilities. It was a great day to be a Cardinal!"
Â
The career exploration tour not only exposed student-athletes to the inner workings of sports organizations, but also provided valuable networking opportunities and real-world insights into the business of sports. The event signifies the commitment of the University of Louisville in preparing athletes for success both on and off the field.
