Parker Forbes, Josh Jones, Sander Roed and Bradley Sample were each recognized.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Four University of Louisville men's soccer student-athletes were recognized on Tuesday for their work in the classroom as College Sports Communicators released their Academic All-District® teams.
Parker Forbes, Josh Jones, Sander Roed and Bradley Sample were all selected and move on to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution and have played in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.
Forbes has played in 11 of 17 matches this season for the Cardinals after taking a redshirt year in 2021. The defender has logged 486 minutes on the pitch and started in four matches. Forbes holds a 3.76 grade point average and is majoring in Finance.
Jones is Louisville's team-leader in minutes and one of two Cards to start all 17 matches to this point. Despite playing center back, Jones has seven points on the season with three goals. The sophomore scored against top-five opponents Kentucky and Syracuse and then tallied the only goal in a 1-0 win over Clemson. Jones is majoring in Sport Administration and has a 3.67 GPA.
Roed adds the academic honor to the All-ACC selection he received last week. The sophomore midfielder is Louisville's leader in assists with eight, which ranks second in the ACC. Roed has started all but one match and has assisted on the game-winning goal against Florida Gulf Coast, NC State, Notre Dame and Clemson. Roed is a Communication major and has a 3.50 GPA.
Sample has started all 17 matches in his final season with the Cardinals, registering nearly 1,500 field minutes. The senior has tallied a goal and three assists out of the midfield. Sample is a two-time Academic All-ACC selection as well. Sample is set to graduate in the spring with his degree in Business Administration and currently has a 3.52 GPA.
Louisville returns to the pitch on Thursday in the opening round of the 2022 NCAA Championship. The Cardinals host Western Michigan with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at Dr. Mark & Cindy Lynn Stadium.
