Another homegrown Cardinal as freshman Alaina Brauer comes to the Ville from Hebron, Ky.
This week, we are getting to know Alaina Brauer, a freshman from Hebron, Ky. by way of Notre Dame Academy.Â
Q: What is your favorite pump-up song?Â

 A:  Peanut butter toast

Q: Where is your favorite place you have competed?Â
A: Â Sacramento

Q: Besides your own, what is one sport you wish you were really good at?Â
A: Â Gymnastics would be really cool for party tricks cause you could just whip out a flip.

 A:  Lindsay Lohan

Q: What is your best memory/experience playing your sport?Â
A: Â Â My favorite memory playing my sport was my V4+ final at Midwest Regionals, we did not know we were going to race the lineup until the night before the race. But we went out for the time trial in the lineup for the first time and out time was first overall. We went into the final knowing we were going to win and with 250m left we had open water and we knew we were going to nationals.
Q: Why did you choose Louisville?Â
 A:  I chose Louisville because of the people here. I feel like anyone who comes on a visit can feel it too. The environment is one where you feel the pressure to push yourself but you also feel constant support from the girls and coaches that surround you.Â

Q: How do you know coming to?Louisville?was the right decision for you?? Â
A: Â I knew coming to Louisville was the right decision for me because when deciding schools I just kept comparing them to Louisville. And I am reassured I made the right choice every single day and every single practice with the team.

 Q: What is one thing our program has taught you?Â
A: Â Trust. Trust the process, trust your teammates, trust yourself.
Â
 Q: What is your favorite thing about our team/program??Â
 A:  My favorite thing about our team is the fact that we know how to do the work no questions asked and we have fun doing it.Â

Q: What is the best part about being a student-athlete at Louisville?Â
 A:  I think the best part about being a student athlete at I Louisville is the support we have. I knew coming in that we would always have someone to go to but I didn't realize how much I would use everything we are given.

Q: What do you miss most about being on campus?Â
A: Â I miss going to the Starbucks in the SAC and running into all of my teammates.
Â
 Q: What are you doing with yourself during your free time??Â
 A:  Yoga, Netflix, Cooking/Baking, Facetiming friends.

Q: What's one thing you wish you had with you during this time?Â
 A:  My friends in personÂ

Q: How are you continuing to stay in shape during this time? Â
A: Â I have been erging, lifting, circuits, yoga, and running stairs to stay in shape.
Q: How have you and your teammates been keeping in contact?Â
 A:  Not a day has gone by where I haven't made contact with one of my teammates. We all have like seven different group chats over Snapchat, Instagram DMs, iMessage, and Whatsapp. We Facetime each other very often. We also all send stuff through a Facebook Group so that the whole team can see it.Â
