
Carter, Durr Earn Honors at Louies Student-Athletes Awards Show

The University of Louisville athletics department relished in the successes of all of its teams and student-athletes on Monday night at The Louies Student-Athletes Awards Show.
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville athletics department relished in the successes of all of its teams and student-athletes on Monday night at The Louies Student-Athletes Awards Show.
Following a 32-win season, an ACC regular season championship and a trip to the NCAA Elite Eight, women's basketball earned several honors.
Arica Carter claimed the very prestigious #L1C4 Award. The honor is given to a student-athlete who exemplifies the meaning of the athletic department's culture, humble and hungry. The individual sets the standard by achieving for being 'Louisville First' by excelling in the classroom, in the community, and in athletic competition.
Carter, a redshirt-senior from Los Angeles, averaged 9.5 points and finished second on the team with 63 made three-pointers in her final season. Carter was one of three Cardinals selected in the 2019 WNBA Draft last week, going 32ndoverall to the Phoenix Mercury.
Carter is only the fifth student-athlete to earn the #L1C4 award, joined by baseball's Brendan McKay, swimming's Kelsi Worrell, and football's Teddy Bridgewater and Reggie Bonnafon.
Asia Durr, along with swimmer Mallory Comerford, was named the Female adidas High Performance Athlete of the Year.
A consensus All-American, the senior from Douglasville, Ga., was the recipient of the Dawn Staley Award and Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, presented to the top guard and top shooting guard in the nation. A member of the ACC All-Tournament Team and Albany Regional All-Tournament Team, she helped the Cards to an Elite Eight birth. She was named ACC Player of the year, first team all ACC, and a member of the ACC All-Academic Team. A member of the winningest class in UofL women's basketball history, she was recently tabbed with the second pick of the 2019 WNBA Draft by the New York Liberty.
Carter and Durr, along with Sam Fuehring, finished their career with 123 wins, making them the winningest class in program history. They won ACC regular season titles in 2018 and 2019, an ACC Tournament title in 2018, and helped the Cardinals make three Sweet 16's, two Elite 8's and the 2018 Final Four.
