Cardinals Fall to Temple in Non-Conference Finale

Liam Bennett scored his first goal of the season for Louisville
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's soccer team could not overcome a late goal by Temple, falling to the Owls 2-1 in the Cardinals' non-conference finale at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium Tuesday night (Oct. 22).

The UofL defense held the Owls without a shot in the first half as the Cardinals put a pair of shots on net. Louisville concluded the match out-shooting Temple 14-7, including 5-3 in shots on goal.

The Owls got on the board first in the 47th minute when Pierre Cayet scored off of a corner kick.

The Cardinals tied the game in the 75th minute thanks to Liam Bennett's first goal of the season. Cherif Dieye's cross from the right side in front of the goal line connected with Bennett, who tapped the ball into the lower left corner of the net.

Temple scored the game-winner with 3:45 left in the game off a header by Lukas Fernandes.

The Cardinals travel to North Carolina Friday, October 25, to take on the Tar Heels at 6 p.m.
