The senior duo came away with a 6-2 win over fellow Cardinals Fabien Salle and Federico Gomez.
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Brandon Lancaster and George Hedley captured the doubles title at the Vanderbilt Commodore Scramble on Sunday to lead the University of Louisville men's tennis team on the final day of action at the Currey Tennis Center.
"I am especially proud of the way we played doubles this weekend," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "The Finals was an all-Cardinal affair and it is our fourth year in a row that we have won the Vanderbilt Doubles Title. George Hedley was a part of three of the four championships. Fede's semifinal showing as well as Brandon and George winning three of four singles matches was a really good start for us this season."
In a face-off between Cardinals, the senior duo of Lancaster and Hedley came away victorious, defeating Fabien Salle and Federico Gomez 6-2 for the doubles championship.
Lancaster and Hedley also added a pair of singles wins on the day. Lancaster downed Vanderbilt's Billy Rowe in straight sets, notching the victory by a score of 6-4, 6-2. Despite falling 6-2 in the first set, Hedley came from behind to win the final two sets over Vanderbilt's Alex Ross 6-2, 6-3.
In other singles action, Salle fell to Belmont's Hendrik Inno by a mark of 3-6, 6-0, 6-2.
The Cards will be back in action on Saturday for the opening day of the All-American National Championships in Tulsa, Okla. The tournament will run through Oct. 5.
