Cards win a pair of doubles and singles matches on the final day
The University of Louisville men's tennis team picked up four wins on the final day of the Florida Gulf Coast Collegiate Open Saturday at Bonita Bay Club Sunday.
Â
"Another successful day winning four of six matches against very good programs," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "These four have been playing with a lot of heart and gaining experience which is helping them win more tight matches. Fabien and Clement had their second perfect day and Clement was a match point away from a 6-0 weekend. You can see their development happening. Every program here stayed in host homes and these people were great and shared a lot of wisdom with all of the tennis players. My guys really enjoyed a wonderful student-athlete experience this weekend. "
Â
The Cardinals opened the day with a pair of doubles wins against the University of Kentucky. Junior Fredrik Moe teamed with freshman Fabien Salle to beat Kevin Humpfner and Fabian Penzkofer 6-3 while junior Clement Filho and freshman Alex Wesbrooks topped Parth Aggarwai and Arthur Chen 7-5.
Â
In singles action, Salle picked up a 2-6, 6-1, 10-6 victory over Arkansas's Adam Sanjuro. Filho collected his third straight singles win of the tournament with 6-4, 2-6, 1-0 decision against the Razorbacks' Pedro Alonso.
Â
Louisvile will continue the fall season at the Dick Vitale/Lakewood Ranch Invitational Nov. 2-4.
