Hedley and Gomez pick up two doubles wins

The University of Louisville men's tennis team picked up a pair of doubles wins on day one of the Vanderbilt Commodore Scramble.

"We played some impressive doubles today. Federico and George have adapted really well to playing together and had an impressive win against the No. 2 seed," said UofL assistant coach Jakob Gustafsson. "Fredrik did an impressive job as well in carrying his doubles team. There was more to wish for in singles with very few opportunities missed. The guys are ready for another day of tennis though and I think tomorrow can be a break through day for us."

Juniors George Hedley and Federico Gomez teamed to beat Vanderbilt's Tate Allwardt and Alex Ross 6-3 and followed with a 7-5 win over LSU's Nikola Samardzic and Rafael Wagner to reach the doubles semifinals.

The tournament will continue Saturday morning.
