Cards pick up fifth straight win with 7-0 victory over Toledo
The University of Louisville men's tennis team swept Toledo 7-0 at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center Saturday morning.
Â
"This is a team that's really dangerous," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "The last time we played them here two years ago, their No. 1 player Stejpan Sisko beat the No. 1 player in the country Sebastian Stiefelmeyer, so for Parker Wynn to do what he did with the guy that beat Sebastian, shows just how much he has developed. Also, when they came out two years ago, Toledo won the doubles point. We came out and did very well with them in doubles and it showed this team how much they've grown because this is a legitimately tough team, especially in the indoor courts."
Â
The Cardinals took the doubles point with wins on courts one and two. The No. 37 duo of senior Sean Donohue and freshman Parker Wynn improved their doubles record to 14-1 this season with a 6-1 victory over Stjepan Sisko and Ernie Suksathaporn on court one. At the two-spot, junior Ciro Lampasas and sophomore Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff defeated Vince Anzalone and Serjen Olmedo 6-2 to secure the first point of the match.
Â
In singles action, Wynn defeated Stejpan Sisko 6-3, 6-1 at No. 1, while fellow freshman Clement Filho won 6-2, 6-4 on court five against Ernie Suksathaporn to move the Cardinals lead to 3-0. Junior Nicolas Rouanet defeated Vince Anzalone 6-2, 6-2 on court two. At the six-spot, Donohue defeated Juan Carranza 6-4, 6-2 to give the Cards a 5-0 lead. Sophomore Brandon Lancaster won 6-3, 6-3 on court four against Reid Teatsorth. Lampasas sealed the sweep with a 2-6, 6-3, 1-0 (11-9) victory on court three over Luka Vitosevic.

Louisville (9-3) returns to action against Tennessee Tech tonight at 6:00 p.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
