Cards improve to 7-3 on the season
The University of Louisville men's tennis team defeated Boston College 6-1 in an ACC matchup Sunday afternoon at the Flynn Recreation Complex.
Â
"Boston College has one of the unique tennis venues in the country and it takes getting used to," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "We attacked quickly in doubles and this team showed definite improvement in our last three matches. We hope to continue the momentum on Thursday versus Georgia State at home."
Â
The Cardinals took the doubles point to start the match with wins on courts one and three. Senior Sean Donohue and freshman Parker Wynn improved to 12-1 on the season with a 6-4 win over Derek Austin and Hank Workman at No. 1. Sophomores Brandon Lancaster and George Hedley clinched the point by beating Sean Mullins and Alexander Chieffalo 6-3 at the three-spot.
Â
In singles action, Hedley put the Cards up 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-3 decision against Kent Mukai at the No. 4 position. Wynn defeated Workman 7-6, 6-3 at No. 2 and sophomore Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff bested McNulty 6-4, 7-5 on court one to clinch the victory.
Â
The Eagles got on the scoreboard on court three where Austin picked up a 6-1, 7-6 win over junior Nicolas Rouanet.
Â
Louisville added another singles point when Lancaster beat Conor Mullins 6-3, 6-4 at the No. 5 position. Freshman Clement Filho's 10-2 win against Chieffalo brought the final score to 6-1.
