Coach Copeland on Megan: "Megan is someone who really understands the big picture, the team and the DNA of who we are. For someone who is relatively new to rowing, Megan has already shown a deep love for the sport and has displayed an unteachable, innate talent. We're looking forward to watching her grow as a competitor and to see how her gracious and thoughtful persona will contribute strength to the bond of the team."Â
Â
Coach Copeland on Olivia: "From the first stroke that we saw Olivia take on the water, we knew she was an athlete we wanted to talk to. And then as soon as we talked to her, we knew she was someone we wanted to fight for. Olivia might not be the tallest girl in the boat, but she rows like she's the tallest and grittiest girl in the world. This, along with her witty and intelligent personality, is why we're so glad she's chosen to row at Louisville."
Â
Coach Copeland on Rosalie: "Few can say that they've won medals in both seats of a boat, as rower and cox. Rosie is in that special few. She's a fierce competitor on either side of the microphone. Bringing Rosie into our flock was an easy decision for us and we see her contributing so much to the Louisville Rowing family through her leadership skills, competitive spirit and genuine love of being on the water with her team."
Â
Coach Copeland on Madeline: "Pound for pound, Maddy will bring to this team a level of fight that we're excited to watch in action on the Ohio. With her boundless enthusiasm, energy, and conviction, we have no doubt that Maddy will bring a hearty dose of both goofiness and grit to the Cardinals rowing family. With a history of outstanding results throughout her rowing career thus far, we're excited for her to bring that racing experience to push her teammates to a new level of competition."
Â
Coach Copeland on Ainsley: "Ainsley was the first person to approach the Louisville Rowing table at the Seattle Recruiting Fair and within five minutes of talking to her, we knew she was the real deal. We're all so excited to see how Ainsley will bring her enthusiasm for rowing, overall ambition and genuine work ethic both to the freshman class and to the entire team. Ainsley is eager to excel in as a student and as an athlete and has very ambitious goals for the next four years."
Â
Coach Copeland on Michalina: After the very first time we spoke with Misia, it was clear that she not only would match the enthusiasm and joy of our current class, but would contribute her international training and racing experience to elevate the team. We look forward to Misia's maturity, dedication to the daily grind, and competitive edge contributing to the leadership of the team next year. We're very excited to have Misia join our Cardinal family, and are excited to learn a few more Polish words."
Â
Coach Copeland on McKenzie: We've had our eye on McKenzie since we began rowing at Winter Park and have enjoyed following her successes over the last two years. Even as a relatively new rower, McKenzie was able to race fiercely at a national level, finishing second at Scholastic Nationals last spring. McKenzie is relentless, driven and enthusiastic -- qualities that we appreciate and are excited for her to contribute to the team next fall."
Â
Coach Copeland on Emmaline: "From the start, we've seen Emmy exemplify the characteristics that describe Louisville Rowers: hardworking, honest and with a true love for the sport. Emmy is someone who truly makes every stroke matter, and her unique athletic background and endlessly positive spirit will bring so much to the group. We're thrilled that Emmy chose to call Louisville home and are looking forward to working with her throughout her years as a Cardinal."
