George Hedley picks up a singles win for the Cards

The University of Louisville men's tennis team fell 6-1 to Oregon Sunday afternoon at Oregon's Student Tennis Center.

"Revenge was sweet for Oregon today," said UofL head coach Rex Ecarma. "They were not playing to barely beat us, but playing to destroy us. At singles positions 2,3,4 and 5 they dominated. They are a very good team. Our lone highlight was George Hedley. He patiently waited for his opportunity to start and after seven matches of not hearing his name in the singles lineup, he finally got the opportunity and capitalized on it. I am proud of him."

The Ducks opened the match by taking the doubles point with wins at Nos. 2 and 3. Oregon's duo of Daan Maasland and Simon Stevens defeated Louisville freshmen Christian Haushammer and Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff 6-2 at No. 2 while Cormac Clissold and Thomas Laurent teamed to beat sophomore Courtney Lock and junior Sean Donohue 6-4 at the three-spot.

In singles, Laurent gave Oregon a 2-0 lead when he beat Jeffrey Brown 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2. Oregon's Jayson Amos increased the lead to 3-0 at the four-spot when Amos topped Lancaster 6-2, 6-1. The match was decided on court three where Stevens picked up a 6-0, 6-3 win over Morin-Kougoucheff.

Louisville freshman George Hedley picked up the Cards' lone point with a 6-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6) win over Ethan Young-Smith at No. 6.
