Kubel Named First Team Academic All-District

Sophomore defender has 3.61 GPA in the classroom while scoring three goals this season for the Cardinals
LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville sophomore defender Tim Kubel was named First Team Academic All-District by the College Sports Information Directors Association on Thursday afternoon.
A native of Stuttgart, Germany, Kubel has a 3.61 GPA while majoring in economics. On the field, Kubel has scored three goals and started all 16 matches for the Cardinals this season. Last season, Kubel was selected as the 2014 ACC Freshman of the Year and was an All-ACC First Team selection after scoring seven goals with five assists for Louisville.
The 2015 CoSIDA) Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The Academic All-District teams are divided into eight geographic districts across the United States and Canada with Louisville landing in District 2. First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
Louisville closes its regular season schedule against No. 2 Wake Forest on Friday at 7 p.m., ET at Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium.
