No. 18 Rowing Earns Four Wins at Tennessee

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - The No. 18 Louisville rowing team delivered a strong performance Saturday morning winning four of six races against Tennessee at Melton Hill Lake.
The Cardinals earned wins over the Lady Vols in varsity eight, second varsity eight, varsity four and novice eight races across the 2,000-meter course. Tennessee picked up second varsity four and novice four wins over Louisville.
"It was a great day because not only did we have a great race, but we also discovered a number of things to work on," said Louisville head coach Derek Copeland. "We know that we will continue to get faster and working on these issues will help us get that speed. The team was very patient today. They will need to remember that feeling as we approach a very important segment of our training because the next 10 days will be some of the toughest sessions they've done. I'm confident they will be able to deliver the way they have all year."
During morning racing, Louisville's varsity eight crew finished more than 10 seconds clear of Tennessee while the Cardinals' varsity four boat was more than four seconds in front of the Lady Vols. The UofL second varsity eight crew was nearly four seconds clear of UT and the novice eight boat was eight second ahead of Tennessee.
Up next, the Cardinals will have a week away from competition before traveling to Iowa City, Iowa, for races against Wisconsin and Minnesota on April 13.
