LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's cross country team was recognized as a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team for the third-straight year, the New Orleans-based organization announced Monday.
To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, a team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better and have started at least five athletes at its respective NCAA regional championship.
The Cardinals were one of 14 BIG EAST squads, the most among all conferences, to earn the academic honor.
Louisville, which had no seniors on its 2011 squad, had a top finish of second in its season-opener, the Mid-America Opener. Individually, freshman Madie Davidson had three top-20 finishes, including a 16th-place showing at the Greater Louisville Classic.
