
Five Cardinals Earn NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region Honors

Louisville, Ky. - Five Cardinals were named to the NSCAA All-Great Lakes All-Region team. Senior Paolo DelPiccolo and junior Andrew Farrell were named to the first team while senior Greg Cochrane and sophomores Dylan Mares and Will Vitalis earned third team honors.
DelPiccolo started all 21 matches for the Cardinals in the midfield. He finished his four year career at Louisville ranked as the all-time assist leader with 23 career assists. He finished this season tied for second on the team with six assists. DelPiccolo also earned All-BIG EAST first team honors this season.
Farrell was named MAC Hermann Trophy semifinalist and a first team NSCAA All-American this season. He was also named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year this season. Farrell anchored the Cardinals' defense, which is tied for the top spot in the conference allowing 0.62 goals per game in league play. Louisville posted a 7-1 BIG EAST record, winning the Red Division. Farrell was also a unanimous selection to the All-BIG EAST first team. He finished the year tied for third on the team with four goals and nine points.
Cochrane started in all 21 games for the Cardinals and ranked second on the team with six goals. He moved to the midfield this season after starting in the back line his junior year. Cochrane finished ranked second on the team with 15 points on the year. Cochrane earned All-BIG EAST third team honors this season after helping the Cards capture the Red Division title.
Mares played in 19 games, while starting 18 for the Cardinals. He led the team with seven goals and five assists for 19 points. He finished the year with three game-winning goals against DePaul, UC Irvine and Winthrop. Mares was named to to All-BIG EAST Third Team. He scored his first career hat trick against Winthrop in the NCAA Tournament.
Vitalis played in 18 matches, while starting in 17. He finished the year tied for second on the team with four goals and seven assists for 15 points. He led the team in assists with seven. Vitalis scored the game winning goal against St. John's . He was named to the All-BIG EAST second team.
