
Men's Soccer Travels to Maryland on Saturday

College Park, Md. - The No. 7 Louisville men's soccer team will play at Maryland on Sunday, Dec. 1 at 5:00 p.m. in the Quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament. The Cardinals are coming off a 2-1 win over Northwestern in the third round of the NCAA Tournament and will be vying for a second trip to the College Cup.
The Cardinals enter the game with an overall record of 14-5-1 and a BIG EAST record of 7-1-0. Sophomore Dylan Mares leads the team in scoring with seven goals and five assists for 19 points.. Senior Greg Cochrane and sophomore Will Vitalis rank second on the team with 15 points. Junior Mike Mauro started in 14 games for the Cardinals in goal. He owns a 0.77 goals against average with six shutouts and an 11-2-1 record.
Maryland enters the game with an overall record of 19-1-2. The Terrapins defeated Coastal Carolina 5-1 in the third round of the NCAA Championship to advance to the quarterfinals. Junior Patrick Mullins leads the Terps with 38 points, 15 goals, and eight assists. Freshman Schillo Tshuma also has contributed eight goals on the year, Keith. Cardona has started in 18 matches for Maryland. The sophomore has a 1.02 goals against average, while registering 36 saves and posting six shutouts.
Maryland holds a slight 2-1-0 edge over Louisville in the series. Last time out the Terrapins defeated the Cardinals 3-0 in the season opener on Aug. 26, 2012.
