LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville's men's and women's cross country season begins on Saturday, Sept. 4, at the University of Evansville's Mid-America Opener in Evansville, Ind. The event begins with the women's race, a 4K, at 10 a.m. CT., followed by the men's race, which will be a 6K.
The Cardinals will be facing runners from site-host Evansville, Indiana State and Kentucky Wesleyan.
The men's team, which is receiving votes in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association preseason coaches' poll, boasts a cast of returnees that include Michael Eaton, Matt Bruce and Luke Lovelace, while adding newcomers in Ryan Eaton, Evan Hibbs and Tyler Byrne.
The women's squad, dominated by newcomers, will be led by seniors Emily Borsare and Kim Grieshaber.
Last year, the men and women took first place in their collective divisions at the event. Hughes and Eaton finished first and second, respectively, while Grieshaber and Borsare took second and third, respectively.
