
Louisville Rowing Completes Day One at South/Central Regional Championships

OAK RIDGE, Tenn. - The Louisville rowing team completed a busy day one at the South/Central Rowing Championships on Saturday at Melton Hill Lake with morning heat races and afternoon semifinal races.
Leading the way for the Cardinals was the varsity eight boat with a crew of coxswain Ashley Edwardson, Lauren Mensch, Erin Bennett, Katie Rorer, Kristin Falovo, Sarah Fiske, Sam Kayser, Anastasia Prokopenko and Samantha Seldon. In Heat #2 on Saturday morning, the Cards' V8+ crew earned a third-place finish out of six boats with a time of 7:01.47, while Michigan State led the way at 6:47.80. With the heat race finish, Louisville advanced to A/B Semifinal #2 late in the afternoon and finished sixth overall with a time of 6:55.01, while the Spartans earned the win with a time of 6:33.60. With the semifinal finish, the Cardinals advance to race in Sunday's "B" Final at 11:50 a.m. ET.
In the second varsity eight event, the Cardinals' crew of coxswain Ellen Fawcett, Katie Scordo, Kelly Traynor, Chelsea Haack, Catherine Chivers, Cara Littleton, Lauren Proctor-Brown, Lina Azarova and Kayla Kroninger opened the day with a fourth-place finish in Heat #3 on Saturday morning with a time of 7:10.31, while Michigan set the pace at 6:54.50. In the afternoon's C/D Semifinal #2, the Cardinals earned the win with a time of 7:11.50, while Kansas was second in the five-boat race at 7:12.92. With the semifinal finish, Louisville advances to Sunday's "C" Final at 10:10 a.m. ET.
Louisville's varsity four crew of coxswain Chloe Lozano, Chelsea Coorts, Ruthie Fligor, Mallorie Campbell and Kylie Wrenn opened its day with a fifth-place finish in Heat #2 on Saturday morning with a time of 6:32.82, while Wisconsin earned the win with a time of 7:38.20. During C/D Semifinal #1 on Saturday afternoon, Louisville finished fourth overall with a time of 8:33.34, while Oklahoma led the way with a time of 7:56.50. With Saturday's finishes, the Cardinals advance to Sunday's "D" Final at 9:10 a.m. ET.
Sunday's final day of racing at the South/Central Regional Championships is set to begin at 9 a.m. ET and conclude with the varsity eight "A" final at noon.
