
Men's Tennis Falls to Virginia Tech 5-2

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - - Host Virginia Tech defeated the 16th ranked University of Louisville men's tennis team 5-2 Friday evening.
"We were thoroughly outplayed tonight," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "Virginia Tech did a great job and played almost error-free tennis. We made more errors than we have all season and we've got a lot of work to do before Sunday. Hats off to Virginia Tech tonight."
The Hokies grabbed the doubles point to start the match. Yoann Re and Sebastien Jacques teamed to beat Robert Rotaru and Alejandro Calligari 8-2 at the two-spot while Brandon Corace and Patrick Daciek defeated Robert Hall and Viktor Maksimcuk 8-5 at No. 3. Louisville's 15th ranked duo of Austen Childs and Simon Childs picked up an 8-7(4)win over No. 67 Nicolal Delgado and Luka Somen at the top seed.
Virginia picked up singles points at Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4 in the win. The Cards got wins from Hall with his 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 at No. 5. Andrew Carter collected his 12th consecutive win with a 2-6, 6-2, 7-5 victory over Patrick Daciek at the No. 6 seed.
U of L (11-3) will return to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center Sunday when they play host to Xavier at noon and Southern Illinois at 5 p.m.
