
Women's Basketball Hands Seton Hall an 84-48 Defeat

South Orange, NJ - The University of Louisville women's basketball team defeated Seton Hall 84-48 Saturday afternoon in Walsh Gym. Chauntise Wright led the Cardinals with 22 points and 13 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. Angel McCoughtry finished with 20 points and Candyce Bingham added 12 points for the Cardinals. Jadis Rhodin led Seton Hall with 11 points.
The Cardinals started the second half with a 9-0 run to go up 53-27 with just over 16 minutes remaining. Louisville continued to build their lead, with the largest lead at 80-43 with 3:14 left to play. The Cards outscored the Pirates 48-28 in the paint and finished with 22 fast break points.
Louisville started the second half hitting three 3-pointers in their first four possessions, allowing the Cards to jump out to an 11-2 lead. The Pirates had a hard time handling the Louisville pressure and the Cards took advantage with two runs during the half.
The Cardinals used a 9-0 run early to take a 20-5 lead with 13:27 remaining in the first half. Louisville then went on an 11-0 run to take a 38-11 lead at the 4:35 mark. The Louisville defense forced Seton Hall into 16 first half turnovers that resulted in 20 points for the Cards. Louisville went into the locker room with a 44-25 lead.
Louisville finished the game shooting 49.3 percent from the field and 38.9 percent from behind the arc. Seton Hall finished the game shooting 30.6 percent from the field and 12.5 percent from behind the arc. Louisville outrebounded Seton Hall 46-42
The Cardinals will be back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 26 as they host Providence in Freedom Hall at 7:00 p.m.
