
Men's Tennis Tops Morehead State 7-0

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - The University of Louisville men's tennis team defeated visiting Morehead State 7-0 in the first part of a doubleheader Friday afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. The Cards (2-0) will face Murray State Friday evening at 6 p.m.
"I was very pleased with the guys because they became a team today in terms of supporting each other throughout the match," said U of L tennis coach Rex Ecarma. "Tennis is an individual sport, but it helps each person playing when his teammates are engaged in the match with him. Professional players look to their guests in the player's box, college players should look to their teammates."
The Cards began the match by grabbing the doubles point. The freshman tandem of Austen Childs and Simon Childs rolled to an 8-2 win over Greg Johnston and Bradley Bryan at the top seed. Sophomores David Simon and Kenneth Nordheim defeated Charles Williams and Dusan Milovanovic 8-6 at No. 2. Senior Pablo Camacho and junior Robert Rotaru edged Doug Song and Lovell Medcalf 9-8 at the three-spot.
Louisville swept the singles points in straight sets. Austen Childs defeated Johnstone 6-1, 6-0 in the top slot, while Simon picked up a 6-0, 6-3 win over Milovanovic at No. 2.At the three-spot, Maksimcuk edged Bryan 7-6 in the first set and cruised to a 6-1 win in the second. Robert Rotaru beat Song 6-4, 6-4 at No. 5 and sophomore Tim Barnoud defeated Medcalf 6-2, 6-2 at No. 6.
