
Women's Basketball Releases Schedule

Louisville, Ky. - The 2007-08 University of Louisville women's basketball schedule has been released. The 29-game schedule features 20 teams that participated in postseason play last season. The Cardinals' schedule features 24 games against teams that held an RPI of 150 or better last season. Game times are tentative and more times and televised dates will be released at a later date.
"We are very excited about the upcoming schedule and feel that our nonconference schedule is competitive enough to help us prepare for the very difficult BIG EAST schedule," said head coach Jeff Walz. "We will be tested early with road games the whole month of November. Then the games in December against Xavier, Western Kentucky, Kentucky and Middle Tennessee should prepare us for another tough BIG EAST slate."
The Cardinals will prepare for the regular season with an exhibition game against the Ohio All-Stars on Nov. 3 in Freedom Hall at 7:30. Then the Cardinals will spend rest of the month of November on the road.
Louisville will kick off the regular season at Ball State on Nov. 10 at 1:00 p.m. The Cards will then play in a round robin tournament at Minnesota. Louisville will face Western Carolina on Nov. 17 and then host Minnesota on Nov. 18 in the Subway Basketball Classic. Wrapping up the month of November, the Cards will face a tough field in the Panera Bread Challenge in Chattanooga, Tenn. Louisville will face Delaware on Nov. 23 at 5:00 p.m. The Championship and Consolation games will be played on Nov. 24 at 5:00 and 7:00 p.m.
The Cards will return to the friendly confines of Freedom Hall for a two game home stand. They will host the Florida Gators on Dec. 2 at 2:00 p.m. then Xavier on Dec. 9 at 2:00 p.m.
Louisville will then play four straight games on the road before returning to Freedom Hall to finish out the year. The Cards will travel to Vermont on Dec. 12 before a instate rival game at Western Kentucky on Dec. 16. Four days later the Cards will travel to Lexington to face the Kentucky Wildcats on Dec. 20 in Rupp Arena at 7:00 p.m. Wrapping up the road trip will be a game against Coppin State on Dec. 22.
The Cardinals will host Mercer in Freedom Hall on Dec. 28 at 7:00 p.m. and then MTSU on Dec. 30 at 2:00 p.m.
BIG EAST play begins on Jan. 5 as the Cardinals travel to Syracuse to begin the 2008 season. The schedule is tough early for the Cardinals in league play. Notre Dame will visit Freedom Hall on Jan. 8. The UConn Huskies will return to Freedom Hall on Saturday, Jan. 12. Then a game with long time rival Cincinnati on Jan. 15 in Freedom Hall wraps up the three game home stand.
The Cardinals travel to NCAA runner-up Rutgers on Jan. 20 before returning home to play Marquette on Jan. 23. Back-to-back road games at Pittsburgh on Jan. 27 and Cincinnati on Jan. 30 finish out the month of January.
Louisville will return to Freedom Hall for a one game home stand against South Florida on Feb. 2. The Cards will have back-to-back road games at DePaul on Feb. 10 and at St. John's on Feb. 13. They will host Georgetown on Feb. 17 before traveling to Seton Hall on Feb. 23. The Cardinals will wrap up the month of February hosting Providence on Feb. 26.
The Cards will travel to West Virginia for the final road game on March 1. Louisville will wrap up regular season play against Villanova in Freedom Hall on March 3.
The top 12 teams will qualify for the 2008 BIG EAST Tournament, to be held March 8-11 at the Hartford (CT) Civic Center.
