No. 14 Pepperdine Tops Men's Tennis 6-1

MALIBU, Calif. - - Defending national champion, fourteenth-ranked Pepperdine defeated the University of Louisville 6-1 Friday at the Ralph-Straus Tennis Center. Pepperdine extended its home win streak to 53 straight.
The Waves took the doubles point to start the match. Richard Johnson and Omar Altmann, ranked No. 29 in the nation, defeated senior Slavko Radman and freshman James McArthur 8-4 on court No. 1. Pepperdine's Bassam Beidas and James Lemke clinched point with an 8-6 victory over freshman David Simon and Robert Rotaru at No. 3. Andre Begemann and Mahmoud Kamel completed the doubles sweep by outlasting Louisville freshmen David Simon and Chris Herrlinger 9-8 at the two-spot.
In singles action, No. 23-ranked Begemann defeated Louisville's No. 53 Radman 6-2, 6-3 at the top seed. Lemke toped Rotaru 6-4, 6-0 at 3. Johnson beat freshman Kenneth Nordheim 6-3, 6-0 at No. 4. Altmann picked up a 6-3, 6-0 win over Simon at No. 5 and Kamel defeated Horatiu Oltean 6-2, 6-2 at the six-spot.
Pepperdine clinched the match at No. 1 as Begemann swept Slavko Redman, 6-2, 6-3. Lemke kept the shutout intact with 6-4, 6-0 win at the No. 3 position but Damar Johnson held off Beidas at the No. 2 position for the Cardinals' lone point of the match.
Senior Damar Johnson registered Louisville's only point in the match - a 4-6, 6-4, (10-4) win over Beidas at No. 2.
The Cards (7-12) will return to the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center for a matchup against BIG EAST foe Sourth Florida on April 6 at 3 p.m.
