LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The University of Louisville men's tennis team fell to William and Mary 4-3 Sunday at the Bass-Rudd tennis center.
Louisville started the day off strong winning the doubles point. Slavko Radman and James McArthur paired up at No. 2 to rout Marwan Ramadan and Richard Wardell, 8-3. Damar Johnson and Chris Herrlinger defeated Dominic Pagon and Colin O'Brien 8-6 at No. 3. The 25th ranked team of Alexandru Cojanu and Keziel Juneau topped Robert Rotaru and David Simon 8-2 at the top seed.
In singles play, Radman, No. 99 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, defeated No. 114 Cojanu at No. 1, 2-6, 6-4, 6-1. Johnson overthrew No. 79 O'Brien at No. 2 singles, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (5). At No. 3 Rotaru fell to Juneau, 6-1, 4-6, 6-3, while, Simon was defeated by Ramadon, 6-2, 6-1, at No. 4. Horatiu Oltean lost in straight sets to Alex Zuck at No. 5, 6-3, 6-3. James McArthur lost his first singles match as a Cardinal to Wardell, 7-5, 6-4, at No. 6.
The Cardinals (6-9) travel to Mobile, Ala., on Wednesday to play in the Blue-Gray Invitational.
