Louisville, Ky. - Louisville freshman Keshia Hines was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week the league office announced on Monday. Hines had a career day in the Cardinals' home opener on Sunday to earn the honor.
"Keshia let the game come to her," said head coach Jeff Walz. "She attacked the basket, she was out in passing lanes, and she came up with a few steals. She ran the floor in transition and got some easy lay ups. When she does that, she is a special player."
Hines led the Cardinals in scoring with a career-high 25 points in the Cards' 79-62 home win over SEC opponent Florida. It was the first double-figure scoring game for the freshman who went 11-of-13 from the field for an 84.6 shooting percentage. Hines also pulled down a career-high eight rebounds and recorded three steals and two blocked shots for the game.
Louisville will be back in action on Sunday, Dec. 9 as they host Xavier at 2:00 p.m. in Freedom Hall.
