Louisville vs. Western Kentucky
December 17, 2007 | Women's Basketball
Dec. 17, 2007
Louisville Head Coach Jeff Walz
"This was a great team win. I am extremely proud of the effort this group of young ladies put forth today. We had a game plan in place and they followed it to perfection. To hold Crystal Kelley to eight points when she was averaging 23 says a lot about our execution on the defensive end. The last time a Louisville team came to Western and won was 1982. These young ladies weren't even born yet. This is a special win and this team should be very proud."
(On forcing Western into 25 Turnovers)
"We came into the game knowing that Western was averaging 20 turnovers a per game. Our goal was to force them into 25 and scoring at least 18 pts off of those 25 turnovers. We were able to force 25 turnovers today and turned them into 20 points. In order for us to win games, we are going to need to continue to try and force opponents into turnovers. It was a big reason for our success today."
Junior Angel McCoughtry
(on first win in Diddle Arena since 1982)
"We just made history today. 1982 is such a long time, it's 2007. It was time for us to get a win here. We all made history today, and that's all that counts. We did it as a team. We played together, and that's all that matters."
(on the matchup between two of the nation's leading scorers)
"I don't really care if I lead that nation in scoring, it's not something that I think about. It's all about winning as a team and how my team does. I just want to help my team win ball games."
