
McCoughtry Named BIG EAST Player of the Week

Louisville, Ky. - Louisville junior Angel McCoughtry was named Big East Player of the Week the league office announced on Monday. McCoughtry recorded her first career triple double on Sunday against Xavier, guiding the Cardinals to a 67-45 win.
McCoughtry, the BIG EAST Preseason Player of the Year, scored 21 points, pulled down 11 rebounds and collected 10 steals against the Musketeers. McCoughtry played 30 minutes and connected on 36.8 percent (7-of-19) from the field, 50.0 percent (2-of-4) from the 3-point line and 71.4 percent (5-of-7) from the foul line. She also finished with two blocks. McCoughtry tied her career high and the school record with the 10 steals.
The junior is also the nation's leading scorer as of this week. She leads the nation averaging 26.2 points per game. McCoughtry also ranks third in the nation in steals, averaging 5.2 per game.
Senior point guard Patrika Barlow is the nation's leading distributor. Barlow leads the nation in assists, averaging 9.2 assists per game. Barlow tied the school record with 16 assists against Ball State and has dished out seven or more assists in five of the Cardinals' seven games.
