The Cardinals jumped out to a 6-0 lead to start the game. Louisville went on to build their largest lead of the half (20-7) with 13:08 remaining. Bingham and McCoughtry picked up their second fouls early in the game and had to take a seat on the bench the final 13 minutes of the half. Ball State took advantage with an 11-4 run to cut the Cardinal lead to four with 8:25 remaining.
Louisville pulled the lead back out to seven with just over five minutes remaining. Ball State then went on a 6-0 run to cut the lead to one at the 3:56 mark. Sophomore Brandie Radde hit a trey on the next possession and Keshia Hines hit 1 of 2 from the foul line to give Louisville a five point lead at the three minute mark. Ball State then went on an 8-0 run to take a 39-36 lead at the half.
Bingham and McCoughtry came back in the second half with fresh legs and wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. Bingham made a layup to start the second half. Ball State scored on the next possession but Radde hit a 3-pointer to tie the game at the 18:39 mark. The lead changed hands for a few possessions until Bingham made a layup at the 14:23 mark to spark a 12-0 run to put the Cardinals up 58-46 with just under 12 minutes remaining.
Ball State hit consecutive 3-pointers to cut the lead to six but Chauntise Wright answered on the next possession with a layup. Porchia Green scored a layup for Ball State on the next possession but McCoughtry answered with a 3-pointer the next time down the floor. Green then scored on the next two possessions to cut the Louisville lead to four but Louisville always had an answer. Julie DeMuth scored Ball State's final basket on a free throw with 6:19 remaining. Louisville finished the half with a 14-0 run for the win.
Louisville finished the game shooting 53 percent from the field while Ball State shot 35.4 percent. Louisville outrebounded Ball State 37-25.
