Louisville, Ky. - University of Louisville's 2006 women's basketball recruiting class was ranked No. 26 by the All-Star Girls Report following the late signing period. The 2006 class ranks as Collen's top class since coming to Louisville three years ago.
"We are excited about our incoming class," said head coach Tom Collen. "Anytime you add two of the Top 70 high school players and two Top 25 Junior College players, you know you are adding potential impact players. Many of our fans might not realize that Toni Slaughter, arguably Cincinnati's top player a year ago is finally eligible this season, and Candyce Bingham, a transfer from Xavier, were not included in the class. Both of these local players will impact us as well."
According to the All-Star Girls Report incoming freshman forward Jasmine Smith ranked No. 52 while future freshman guard Brandie Radde was ranked No. 66. Junior College transfer Courtney Simmons was ranked No. 22 while Michelle Poindexter, another juco transfer, was ranked No. 24.
After sitting out last season due to NCAA transfer rules, Shelby County's Toni Slaughter will see her first action as a Cardinal this season. Louisville native Candyce Bingham transferred from Xavier but will sit out this season due to transfer rules.
