TAMPA, Fla. - - The No. 27 ranked University of Louisville men's team defeated host South Florida 5-2 Sunday at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts.

"Any road win against a BIG EAST Conference team is an accomplishment, especially since this is the first time we've ever beaten USF in Tampa," said U of L head coach Rex Ecarma. "Our team gave everything they had, handled the heat and the elements and won most of the big points in the match. This should help guarantee a top one or two seed in the BIG EAST Conference tournament in two weeks."

U of L took the doubles point to start the match. USF defaulted the No. 3 spot due to incomplete lineup. The Bulls duo of Marc Jaeger and Dillon Brozyna defeated No. 28 Jeremy Clark and Jakob Gustafsson 8-3 at the top seed. The Cardinals team of Damar Johnson and Jhonny Berrido outlasted Federico Barton and Mark Gattiker 8-6 to take the match and the doubles point.

The Bulls again began doubles play with a default, giving the Cards a win at the No. 6 seed. Gustafsson defeated Jaeger 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 at No. 2 and Johnson posted a 7-5, 6-3 win over Juan Barragan at the three-spot. Clark also picked up a straight set win over Brozyna 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4.

USF's Barton and U of L's Slavko Radman split sets before Radman defaulted, giving the Bulls a win at the top seed. USF's other singles point was Mark Gattiker's 7-5, 6-1 win over Robert Rotaru at No. 5.

Louisville (15-6) will close out the regular season with a trip to South Bend, Ind. to play Notre Dame April 13 at 3:30 p.m.
