Louisville, Ky. - The No. 32-ranked University of Louisville men's tennis team defeated No.60 Indiana University 6-1 Friday at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center. This victory extends the regular season home winning streak to 44 matches for the Cardinals (5-2). The Hoosiers record their first loss of the season, falling to 4-1.

"That match felt good for all of us," U of L head coach Rex Ecarma said. "They beat us last season, so it nice to be able to avenge that loss at home."

The Cardinals started the match off strongly, clinching the doubles point for the sixth time out of their last seven matches. The No. 47-ranked team of Jeremy Clark and Jakob Gustafsson defeated Indiana's Dara McLoughlin and Dmytro Ishtuganov 8-7 at the No.1 seed. At the two-spot, Cardinals Damar Johnson and Jhonny Berrido defeated Hoosiers Michael McCarthy and David Bubenicek 8-2. UofL's Tony Teufel and Slavko Radman followed with an 8-2 victory over IU's Neil Kenner and Mak Kendall in the third position.

Gustafsson outlasted Bubenicek 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 at No.3 for one of Louisville's five singles points. At the two-spot Radman got the better of Indiana's McLoughlin, winning 6-1, 6-3. Louisville's Clark ousted Kenner 6-7, 6-0, 6-1 at the four-spot.

Louisville gave up one singles point to Indiana's Ishtuganov who put Indiana on the board by defeating Johnson 7-5, 7-5 at No.1.

Stefan Naughton edged McCarthy 6-3, 6-4 at the No.5 position and Berrido closed out the match for Louisville by routing Arnaud Roussel 6-2, 5-7, 1-0 at No.6.

The Cardinals will play host to No. 44 Virginia Tech Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.
