Louisville vs. Kentucky Postgame Quotes
Kentucky Head Coach Mickie DeMoss "I thought it was a really hard fought game. It was a typical Kentucky-Louisville game. I am very proud of the way we fought through. We had some good runs, but we could never take the lead. Free throw shooting was big and it was a hard fought game between two quality teams."
On Yuliya Tokova "I think she came out shooting the ball very well and fueled her confidence level. We did a good job on Jazz Covington, but that's a mark of a good team, somebody else will step up. I thought they did a lot of high-low action tactics and she was very physical on the block. She popped out and hit a couple of face ups and got to the line. She had a really good all-around game.
Kentucky guard Carly Ormerod "It was a tough loss being from Louisville. I thought both ways the refs were on us in offense and defense on both teams. We were trying to get momentum, trying to build up. We could cut the lead and then get a foul. We'd do it again and then get another foul. That kind of hurt us a little and stopped our aggressiveness.
Louisville Head Tom Collen "It was a great game, maybe on the greatest women's college basketball games in the history of the state of Kentucky. I've been wanting it to be like this in Freedom Hall every single game. We needed this game not just to get the momentum going but we're really that good. I think you lose this game on your home floor to Kentucky and everybody says maybe your not a Top 25 team."
"Players that really stood out were Katie, Angel and Yuliya . I'm not sure how much more you can say. Angel McCoughtry has gotten to the point that even on nights when I think she plays bad, she gets a double-double. Tonight she didn't get a whole lot of looks in the first half and she got frustrated, but she remained patient. She grew up a little bit. She just goes out and makes plays on her own. I wish I could tell you that I designed some of the things but I think everyone in the stands know that the kid just goes out and set steals, gets blocks, picks up scores. I am glad we've got her."
Louisville guard Katie Olson "This was a good game to build up my confidence. Out whole team was scoring and doing everything. I had some good moments."
Louisville forward Yuliya Tokova "I saw that Jazz had all the pressure on her. We can't put everything on Jazz's shoulders, someone had to step up. I just did what my team needed me to do."
