
Women's Basketball Hosts No. 17 DePaul

Louisville, Ky. - The University of Louisville women's basketball team will face its toughest test of the season as they host No. 17 DePaul tomorrow, Feb. 5 in Freedom Hall at 2:00 p.m. Louisville enters the game with an overall record of 15-5 and a 6-1 league record, tying them with DePaul, Charlotte and TCU for first place. The Blue Demons enter the game with a 17-3 overall record and a 4-3 record on the road this season. Both teams enter the game riding a six game winning streak.
The game will showcase two of the best post players in the league with Louisville's Jazz Covington and DePaul's Khara Smith. Covington leads the Cardinals in scoring and rebounding with 18.2 points and 7.7 rebounds per game. Smith leads DePaul in scoring and rebounding with 19.0 points and 11.7 rebounds per game. Smith is first in the league in field goal percentage, connection on 62.1 percent while Covington is second at 60.1 percent.
The meeting will be the 21st meeting between the two teams with DePaul holding a slight 11-9 lead in the series. The Blue Demons have won five straight games against the Cardinals. The last time the Cardinals defeated DePaul was on Feb. 11, 2001 with a 66-54 victory. That win was also the last time the two teams met in Freedom Hall. Louisville is currently 7-0 in Freedom Hall this season and 17-0 in the last two seasons.
Tomorrow's game is Take a Kid to the Game Day and all adults accompanied with a child will receive free admission and the first 500 fans will receive red Cardinal water bottles. Following the game will be the Cardinal Bird's birthday party and all children in attendance are invited to stay and celebrate with cupcakes and milk. All Louisville fans are encouraged to wear red to the game.
